Fever blisters should not be confused with Canker sores (also called aphthous ulcers) for the latter are small, shallow ulcers occurring on the tongue, soft palate, or inside the lips and cheeks. Some of the various methods for treating cold sores vary from over the counter medication through to old wives tales, and finally landing on natural remedies that work to a certain degree. So which ones are the best to use?

Well I suppose it comes down to personal choice, but first of all I would avoid the old wives tales, which you will probably guess as they will just sound outlandish. Therefore that just leaves you with over the counter, or natural remedies, both have their pros and cons and are likely to give the same results.

The reason I say that is because most treatments for fever blisters take about ten days to take effect, but the lifespan of the blister is about ten days too, so really all you are doing in either case is just getting some pain relief, so why pay for it if you can go and get an ice cube to do exactly the same job.
